Known World Academy of the Rapier
& Known World Costumers Symposium

The Baronies of Bhakail and Iron Bog in the Kingdom of the East invite you to join us on Columbus Day weekend (Oct. 9 - Oct. 11) in Philadelphia for this year's Known World Academy of the Rapier and Known World Costuming Symposium! This event will include two days of classes on both subjects as well as a cocktail party and Masked Ball featuring music performed by the Bhakaili Branslers Saturday evening.

Event Schedule Overview

Friday evening:
5 pm: Site and gate open
8 pm: Gate closes for the evening

Saturday:
9 am: Troll opens
10 am: Classes begin
10 am - 5 pm: A&S Exhibit
1 pm - 3:30 pm: Laurel Moot
6 pm: Classes end for the day, Troll closes
6:30 pm: Court
Travel Fund Auction
8 pm: Masked Ball and cocktail party
12 am: Ball and party end

Sunday:
9 am: Troll opens
9 am: Classes begin
12 pm: Troll closes
6 pm: Classes end
6 pm: Site closes

Weekend Happenings

Open Fencing: Saturday and Sunday, outside. Pick-ups and bear pits through out the weekend. Check for more information posted at Troll. (Rain location: Saturday only, 2nd floor Terrace.)

Outdoor Activities: Various other outdoor activities will be weather-dependent. A list of activities will be posted at Troll.

A&S Exhibit: Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the 2nd Floor Terrace. You are welcome to stay by your work or drop and run. This will be a costuming- and rapier-focused exhibit. Please come display your garb, armor, weapons, acccessories, etc. It is suggested that you have either 3x5 index cards or preprinted sheets for your documentation, as there will be a limited amount of cards available. (Rain location: outside Rosemont)

Laurel Moot: Saturday from 1-3:30 in the hotel bar area. Stop by and greet your fellow Laurels from across the Known World.

EK Travel Fund Auction: Hosted by Liam St. Liam around Court, Saturday evening in Rosemont.

Masked Ball: Saturday from 8 p.m. to midnight. Music provided by the Bhakailie Branslers.
Their Royal Majesties Connor and Brenwen of the East Kingdom will present a King's Choice award and a Queen's Choice award to persons whose costuming, masks, dancing or performance is found most pleasing and entertaining by Their Majesties.
During the Ball, a cash bar will be available on the Terrace.

Site fee:

$25 pre-registered
$30 at the door
$3 non-member surcharge will be applied for adults.
$15 Children 11 – 15 years of age
Children 10 years or younger will be admitted free of charge.
